Nexus 6 which was designed by Motorola last year now has a successor in Nexus 6P, designed by Huawei.
Both mobile phones, Nexus 6 and Nexus 6P are mammoth devices. This is to mean that they are both great creations.
These two handsets are quite similar from the front view. They also have a couple of similar features, for example, the dual frontal speakers, a camera sensor positioned at the top of the screen, and they have a RAM of 3GB.
Display and weight
Nexus 6 has a 6-inch display screen while its counterpart Nexus 6P has a 5.7-inch screen display. The bigger display on the Nexus 6 enables it to reproduce color more accurately than the latter. Nexus 6P is quite narrow, which makes it look more appealing to the eye and a bit nicer to the touch, and to hold. Its counterpart, the Nexus 6 is a bit bulkier thus not quite pocket-friendly. The difference however in weight isn’t quite that big.
Nexus 6 weighs 184gms while its counterpart the Nexus 6P weighs 178gms. Nexus 6 has 74% screen to body ratio while Nexus 6P has 71% screen to body ratio. Nexus 6 has a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels (493 ppi) while the Nexus 6P has a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels (515 ppi).
Performance specs
Nexus 6 runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor while the Nexus 6P runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor. Nexus 6 has four cores while the Nexus 6P has eight cores thus one can play games that are more demanding on the latter.
Operating System
Nexus 6 comes installed with Android Lollipop version 5.0 while its counterpart the Nexus 6P comes installed with Android Marshmallow version 6.0. However, Nexus 6 can easily be upgraded from its current OS to the latest which is Android Marshmallow version 6.0.
Camera
The rear camera of the Nexus 6 is 13MP while its front camera is only 2MP. As for the Nexus 6P flagship, it has a rear camera of 12.3MP and a frontal camera of 8MP thus selfies are less grainy and with less green hue, unlike its predecessor.
Battery life
The Nexus 6 by Motorola handset has a 3,220 mAh Cell while the Nexus 6P by Huawei has a 3,450 mAh, one of the larger cells to be used in a flagship this year. The Nexus 6 charges quickly because it uses a Micro USB Port which also supports wireless charging, The Nexus 6P on the other hand charges faster as uses the USB Type-C standard but does not have support for wireless charging because it doesn’t support Qi standard, a feature that enables wireless charging of smartphones which is quite disappointing and confusing since this amazing feature was present in its predecessor.
Storage
As for storage, Nexus 6 has internal storage of 32 GB or 64 GB whereas its counterpart Nexus 6P has internal storage of 32 GB, 64 GB or 128 GB depending on your choice. These two flagships, however, do not support external storage.
Conclusion
Well, a lot has been improved and very little compromised. The choice is up to you now. Which of the two flagships appeals to you? Will it be the Nexus 6 by Motorola or the Nexus 6P by Huawei?
